GRANTS

Variety the Children's Charity of New York supports grassroots non-profit organizations in the Tri-State area whose programs use the arts as a catalyst to transform the lives of children in underserved communities.

Variety believes that art has the power to create new opportunities, build self confidence and ultimately change lives of the children we serve. Through our grant-making we provide these children with a better future and strengthen the communities in which they reside.

In order to qualify for a Variety grant your organization's programs must fall into one of our focus areas:

  • Performance Art
    • Examples include: dance, theater, improv, music, spoken word, hip-hop, DJing, radio, film, step, circus
  • Visual Art
    • Examples include: painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, architecture, graphic art, digital art, craft work

Variety awards restricted grants for specific projects and programs. Grant applications must address all of the requirements listed in the grant application located on the Variety website. Grant applications are accepted year-round and reviewed on an annual basis by our grant-making committee and Board of Directors. The grant application deadline is July 1, 2011. Grants decisions will be made by September 30, 2011 and funds distributed thereafter.

We do not grant money for capital improvements, administrative overhead, to other foundations, nor individuals.  We do not make funding commitments beyond one year. If a grant application is denied the applicant must wait one year from the date the grant decision letter was sent to re-apply.
