APPLICATION GUIDELINES:
- The primary objective of Variety - The Children's Charity
is to award grants of funds to benefit sick, disabled, and disadvantaged
children throughout the New York tri-state area. Preference
is normally given to applicants whose grants will do the most
good for as many children as possible.
- Only organizations that benefit children in need are eligible
for a grant of funds from Variety. Variety is unable to grant
funds to individuals.
- Grants are awarded as determined by the Variety Heart Committee.
The applicant must possess all of the criteria established by
the Committee and must be deserving of support by Variety.
- Variety awards two types of grants, restricted and unrestricted.
When a restricted grant is requested for a specific project,
consideration will be given based on the merits of the applicant
and the project, the ability of the applicant to successfully
execute it, and the number of children that it will benefit.
When an unrestricted grant is requested, consideration will
be given to the merits of the applicant and the overall benefit
it has for the children it assists.
- After an application is received for consideration, an onsite
visit will be arranged. This will take place after the Committee
has had the opportunity to review the application and determination
is made to proceed further. Since part of the review process
may include reference checks about the organization, confidentiality
cannot be assured.
- All applications must be received at the Variety office
by June 1st of each year. It is your responsibility
to make sure the application is received by that date
. It will not be possible to schedule inperson conferences.
Therefore, every effort should be made to make the application
as complete and informative as possible. *All requests for funds
for summer programs should be clearly marked and highlighted so
that the committee can consider an early decision.
- The Heart Committee will review and evaluate
all applications. The awarding of grants or the rejection of
applications will be done on or before September 30th.
