VARIETY OF NEW YORK - HOW TO APPLY FOR A GRANT

Variety the Children’s Charity of New York recognizes the importance of a holistic approach to serving children; as a result we adopted three grant categories: Education, Health and Play. In order to qualify for a Variety grant, your organization’s work must fall into one of our three categories:

EDUCATION – Variety supports outstanding early childhood educational programs, educational advocacy, innovative educational opportunities and mentoring that serve children in the tri-state area.

HEALTH – Variety supports medical facilities, clinics and childcare services, for children suffering from many different diseases and physical challenges.

PLAY – Variety believes that every child has the right to play. We support organizations that offer extracurricular activities such as music, theater and athletics for children who would not otherwise have access to these opportunities.

Variety awards restricted grants for specific projects and programs. Our grant-making process is as follows:

  1. Grant applications are accepted year-round and reviewed on an annual basis by our grant committee.
  2. The grant application deadline is May 1, 2010.
  3. From May-August the grant committee completes Variety of New York's due diligence process.
  4. Grants are distributed in the early fall.
  5. A six month and annual evaluation must be completed by the grantee.
  6. If your grant application was denied, you must wait one year to re-apply.

Please note: We do not grant money for general operating expenses, capital improvements, other funders, or to individuals. We do not make commitments beyond one year.
