VARIETY OF NEW YORK - GOLD HEART PIN CAMPAIGN
Variety will be selling Gold Heart Pins at participating National Amusements and Clearview Cinemas during the month of January. The 2010 theme is “Green with the Heart of Gold” and features Kermit the Frog on the pin. Disney partnered with Variety the Children’s Charity to create the pin around the famous Muppet in hopes to increase awareness for children’s needs around the globe. The Campaign runs internationally at different Variety chapters which individually benefit their local areas. The Gold Heart Pin campaign was launched in 1991 and began partnering with movie studios in the new millennium due to Variety’s close relationship with the entertainment industry. Past pins have included Disney’s Fantasia, Dreamworks’ E.T., and Sony’s Spiderman. In conjunction with the Gold Heart Campaign a PSA featuring Whoopi Goldberg and Kermit the Frog will air at participating digital theaters to let people know more about the Gold Hearts and Variety the Children’s Charity. Watch the Whoopi Goldberg PSA on YouTube! Variety of New York encourages movie theater patrons in the Tri-State Area to keep a lookout for the pins. Proceeds from the pins which cost $2.00 benefit children in our surrounding communities.
